Tattoo ink absorbs laser energy and shatters the first layer of ink it reaches into smaller particles. Your body then carries particles away through your immune system, causing the tattoo to fade. To make this process more comfortable, we use a cooling device throughout removal to minimize the snappy sensation.
On average a person will need 3 to 8 treatments to achieve desired results. Number of treatments is dependent on several factors including type of tattoo, how old/new it is, ink colors, presence of scarring, and skin type. Temporary side effects may include skin redness and a mild sunburn sensation. Any skin peeling heals in a few days.
The sensation is similar to a rubber band snap on your skin. However, this is minimized with the use of our cooling device that acts to numb the skin.
It is not recommended. Since ink is scattered by the laser, results cannot be guaranteed and may not be desirable.
Yes, it works on almost all colors. Black is the only color to absorb all wavelengths of the laser making it easier to remove, so keep in mind color may take more treatments to fade.
We cannot treat significantly sun damaged or heavily tanned areas due to a higher risk of complications. It is advisable to avoid sun exposure as much as possible for at least 7-10 days prior to any planned procedures. If exposure is unavoidable the use of high SPF (minimum SPF 50) sunscreen should be applied to treatment sites. Sun exposure should be avoided in the days after your treatment until irritation has subsided. Plan to minimize any vigorous activity and avoid restrictive clothing for at least 48-72 hours after.
